Full Description • Geometric Citadel
Geometric Citadel is an original pen and ink drawing by Williams, centered on a powerful desert rock formation rendered through dense linework, crosshatching, and sharply divided planes. The formation rises with a commanding presence, suggesting both natural geology and imagined architecture.
Unlike the more open, minimal landscapes in the series, this piece feels highly structured and concentrated. Vertical hatching, diagonal marks, and interlocking geometric surfaces give the rock face a crystalline, almost constructed quality. The cliffs appear carved, folded, and faceted, as though the landscape has become a desert fortress shaped by both erosion and vision. Small desert plants and sparse ground lines at the base add scale while keeping the focus on the monumental central form.
A small hovering object above the formation adds a subtle mysterious note, reinforcing the sense that this is not simply a landscape, but a place of encounter, observation, and symbolic presence. As part of the Sacred Sedona Art collection, Geometric Citadel reflects Williams imaginative approach to pen and ink drawing, where desert forms become gateways into mystery, structure, and inner terrain.
